2025 NSW Hand Surgery Annual Conference

Scott Oishi
USA

Scott Oishi was born in Honolulu, Hawaii,where he lived until departing for college at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended medical school in Boston at Tuft’s University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery at the University ot Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and then completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Oishi then completed a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1995. He is presently the Director of The Charles E. Seay, Jr. Center for Excellence in Hand & Upper Extremity, the Program Director for the 6-month Pediatric Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship, and a full-time pediatric hand surgeon at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.  Dr. Oishi is a Professor with the Departments of Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical School.

Lorenzo Merlini
France

Dr. Lorenzo MERLINI MD is a hand and upper limb surgeon, based in Paris (France) with an international implication in sharing is experience through the IRCAD-IWC partnership. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency in Lyon (France), he performed a fellowship at the Institut de la Main under the supervision of Pr. Christophe Mathoulin, among others. Dr. Merlini then completed two years as an attending surgeon in the upper limb specialized surgical department of Avicenne teaching hospital (APHP, Bobigny, France). Since 2020, he is a member of the Institut de la Main in Paris, and of the International Wrist Center (IWC). Dr. Merlini walked in the steps of Pr. Mathoulin to become a specialist in wrist mini-invasive surgery and arthroscopy and contributes to progresses in this field with regular scientific publications and technique developments. He is currently General Secretary of the IWC, and head of the Fellowship Program for the IWC Paris center. Dr. Merlini is the Co-Director of the Advanced Wrist Arthroscopy Courses at the prestigious IRCAD center in Strasbourg and is involved in several international IRCAD-IWC courses. Dr. Merlini is also involved with International Wrist Arthroscopy Society (IWAS) and is currently a member of the IWAS Executive Council.

Abstracts

Scientific papers are invited for oral presentations. Authors should submit abstracts written in English to Taylored Images no later than 1700 Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Sunday 24 August 2025. Papers received after this date will not be accepted for inclusion in this year’s program.

All abstracts submitted are subject to review by the Scientific Program Committee and will, if accepted, be assigned to either oral or poster presentation. Authors may indicate preference for oral (podium) presentation and/or poster presentation during the interactive Abstract submission process. Once abstracts have been accepted for presentation, no changes will be accepted to their content.

Accommodation Cancellation

A credit card must be provided with your registration to guarantee accommodation. Your credit card number will be passed to the accommodation venue but will not be debited unless you fail to arrive on the date indicated without having advised Taylored Images of your change in plans. 

As per hotel terms and conditions any accommodation cancellations made after Friday 15 August 2025 will be subject to a cancellation fee of 100% of accommodation cancelled. 

Bookings after Friday 15 August 2025 will incur a $33 booking fee.
